To give Respect- a feeling of great approval and liking –‘’I have a lot of respect for…’’

To Show Respect towards; "honor your parents!!!!’’

I think to show respect and to give respect are two different things. You can have a lot of respect for someone but not show it or you can show them a lot of respect but not give them it. Like the old saying goes ‘’respect your elders.’’ That’s giving respect to an older & wiser human being and acknowledging that the advice they give you would not steer you in the wrong direction. Giving respect is a lot harder then it seems. What if you don’t necessarily   agree with the person choices in life and they still expect your respect. ( yes, very difficult to show how you really feel and think about them. Especially if your parents is around.) I think when a person give another person respect they should really mean it and not give it because there parents tell them to.

When someone shows you respect that means you have the respect you deserve as a trustworthy young adult/adult or they could admire and love you for what you have done or doing. The person showing the respect must trust you to be the leader and do the right thing and be a great example most of the time but this is not how it is all the time. This does not mean you can’t have fun or have to be super mature every waking moment of your life. It just means staying in the right path because you always have a young or older person: looking up to you, wanting to follow in your foot steps, or be just like you. They could love the way you think and react on certain subjects that most people would take to the extreme or even admire the fact that your so mature and still know how to have fun. That could be the way they show respect. So I really think giving respect because your told and showing respect for someone because of the great they have done are two different things.
