A few decades ago, up to 96% of women waited until they were married to have sex. But in this day and age, that has gone down to just 6%. Being in the generation that I am in, teen pregnancy is not alien, nor uncommon to me. In fact if i don't see at least 3 people my age that are pregnant or already has a child, id feel like something was missing out my day. When i see pregnant teenagers it makes me wonder, like " i wonder if being a parent is as hard as people say it is" or" Now that this person is going to have a child, what options do they have for life after high school?" I know those are kind of random questions but i really do think about those type of things quite often throughout my daily life because that's all I really see in my community and around my social environment.
But in this present day, temptation for sex is everywhere, like basically every show that isn't for little kids, has to do with some kind of sexual activity. Almost every rock or hip hop song you listen to, they're talking about sex, and most of the time, talking about sex with more then one person at a time. With all that constantly around you, and in your mind and in your ear, how can you not think about sex you know?
As far as where I'm at this issue, i would say I'm in between. Like I'm not really on any one side. I believe that teenage mothers are very strong women, and i feel like they become very mature, very fast. But that's where I'm torn at. i feel like that have to grow up so fast that they don't get to experience life as a teenager because they have a new found responsibility.
Yet again, the fact that they can mature that fast, and become this strong women, they can be an example to other girls. Not to go out and get pregnant, but to show that, it shouldn't take a baby to make us mature. We all have it in us, we just have to bring it out.
So as I conclude, i just have t say, i will never judge anybody from what they've done in the past, or even things that has come from they're past that is still in their current life. I believe that even though teenage girls and boys will sometimes give into temptation and produce a baby, it shouldn't be looked at as a handicap from people in society. On the other hand, this should not become the trend of our generation, though every child born is a gift, as teenagers, we already have enough on our plates. We should finish everything, then think about kids, later on in adult life that is.
