Blogs :: villence, next 5 years?

well five years from now, im not really sure were i will project the violence level to be. BUt speeaking from just living in my daily life i think it will decrese substanually. like the great grandmother always says, things will get worse before they get better. Truley i do belive that things are at there worst. all this black on black violence and people killing each other, and even people killing kids. and its not just the murders its all the drug dealers, all the kidnappers, all the robbers. LIke i just don't understand it all. as this is the norm for me and my daily life, my parents cannot belive it. they always compare it to back in their day. " back in our  day we didn't have all these killing" and " back in my day we dndt have to worry if our kids will ever get home safe or not" alot has obviously change. see in my preasent day i am used to all this violence and harted and murders, like this is apart of my daily luife. I hate to say it but its alomst like im numb to it now. Like if im watching the news in the morning time the very first story is " troubled youth killedd in richmond" or "ex con from oakland ggoes back to jail.l i feel that it's just sad that this is part of my daily life. But as for the nest five years, i will predict that crime will reduce becuase law enforcment will get get better. i beilve all these murderers will eventually stop and realzie what their doing and who their effecting, not tjust vitcim, but the victims family. Hopefully, i plan in the next five years, that all this crime will not be a " normal" part of my daily life and that things in this world will get better all together.

I believe the violence has increased due to economic instability. Its a fact, statistics proves violence goes up during tough economic times. But here in Richmond its a war at times. Groups of people go back and forth killing one another. I try to be optimistic and dream of things getting better. Its really about getting the youth productive let it be a hobby, activity, sport, music and so on. But its also harder in Richmond because it is a low-income community where we lack in public services. Music got cut at Richmond High, the crisis definitely makes things more difficult for everyone except the wealthiest. The poor get poorer and the rich get richer.

Violence is an everyday thing.. but it shouldn't be. We should all think positive and keep away from it. Because violence is not the way... for anything

I am hopeful that our community will see a decrease in crime in the next five years. Do you think that the crime is higher due to tougher economic times?
