In our RLT meeting on friday we talked about power.. and who has power over who...what makes someone powerful.. and then placed those aspects of power and looked at how powere affects us, how who we are relates to the power we have in the world and how powerful our communities are in fighting foe change. I believe power lies within everyone and it us up to the person to harness that power and put it to good use. alot of people believe that it is white able bodied wealthy men who hold the power. but really its the small people in the world... the colored sometimes unable bodies poor peopl that hold soo much of the power because we out number those that are "powerful" we just have to realize that power and make it useful break through all the doubt and negative critisim and all opsticals that we may come across and make our way to gaining and making that power work for ourselves and our communities.

The issue of power is an important one. If you find the topics of this blog interesting, you should check out the writings of Frantz Fanon, Michel Foucault, and/or Noam Chomsky. Some of their stuff is pretty dense (especially Foucault) but if you stick with it, they all discuss some pretty cool stuff about power structures in societies.
that meeting was pretty powerful. I agree, the power is in every and its about realizing the power we have within us. It is also important to realize the power of others. Even if the individual is using it in a good or bad way we can always learn something or change a situation. In this capitalist country money is power and right now that power is concentrated. And yes, we can change it. Power to the people!
