Monday September 20, 2010 The Ryse Center held Richmond California’s Mayoral debate. The debate included Richmond’s own, John Ziesenhenne (D), Gayle McLaughlin (G), and Nat Bates (D). John Ziesenhenne. proved his belief in equal rights constantly. He was reluctant to mention in his belief in Pro-Business and rejuvenating Richmond’s economy. He clearly showed the audience of the debate the difference between he and his candidates. As soon as he walked in he made sure he introduced himself to NEARLY everyone in the room. Gayle McLaughlin showed her belief in Green Movement by showing that Point Molate should be used not for a casino, but for other reasons stronger than just a casino. She showed that the space can be used not for a casino that she believes can bring in Crime and immoral behavior but for better things to strengthen tourism and environmental health in Richmond. Nat Bates proved that he has been in Richmond’s politics for a while. He came at a “I know what’s good for you” attitude to the youth.
Although, there were some technical difficulties throughout the debate I felt the streaming to Ustream was meaningful. Thanks to that, many other people in Richmond were able to get the messages and further understand the people who wished to lead them. I’d like to take the time to thank those who partook in that so… Thanks. ;)
I believe all of the candidates did the best they could at the debate. Though I am not promoting any of these candidates it did help that she took a picture giving me a knuckle touch.
