Looking for something fun to do while you complete community service hours? Want to get dirty, actually get your hands into the soil? then you should consider joining Urban Tilth a non-profit, Richmond Youth organization. It has year around projects all dedicated to empowering, educating and healing the community. The second Saturday  of every month is volunteer day with free food, music, and gardening. It might be delayed due to the rain right now in January, but I just got news from the Martin Luther King Day of Service committee that due to unfinished business on the Greenway gardens, rescheduling is taking place for the month of February. 2 Farms in 2 Days is also taking place on February, a weekend volunteer project helping build a farm in Kennedy HIgh school and convert Richmond High's garden into a farm. Richmond's High Agriculture class sponsored by Urban Tilth has been a success. Urban Tilth creates jobs for Richmond youth, funds youth and elder workshops, gives away green produce when available and host volunteer days in local gardens. I love Urban Tilth!, definitely an inspiring youth organization in Richmond... just my perspective ;D
