Qualifications:
* Applicants must possess the Basic P.O.S.T. certificate, or * Have completed a P.O.S.T. Certified Academy within the past thirty-six (36) months; proof of course completion is required at the time of application, or Certification to P.O.S.T. that P.O.S.T. standards are met; or current full-time employment as a Peace Officer in the State of California with a minimum of two (2) years experience; or possession of California P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate or approval of out-of-state training in lieu of California Police Academy completion. * High school diploma or equivalent. * 21 years of age. * The completion of thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter college units by the date of appointment to Police Officer is required. * The college unit requirement as specified above may be also satisfied as follows: One semester unit may be substituted for completion of every 40 hours of P.O.S.T. Certified Academy which is not college affiliated. Proof of academy hours completed is required at the time of application. * No felony convictions. * Possess a valid California driver’s license. * Vision uncorrected 20/100 in each eye, corrected to 20/30 in each eye. Normal color vision. * Hearing must be normal. * If you are not a citizen of the United States, you must have filed for citizenship at least one (1) year before applying for police officer.
