I feel all of us experience violence daily, one way or another. Through the media, we see it and feel it at home. It's hard enough to keep our own back yard violence free, and often we fail, because of all the problems young kids face at a earliy age.

what alot of people dont understand is alot of the violence is from the kids who faced the most problems growing up. also growing up in a violent naborhood you tend to get violent and act off what you see. and all this has an impact on everybodys life because the violence just keeps on going in our commuity and the violence also gets worse.

Its a little harder standing up in a community where it has a history on violence, sometimes I feel like the most violent people are not being outreached to, and one reason can be that they ignore you when you try talking to them. But its better to try then to fail completely. I agree more people should impose but we also have to keep in mind that a lot of people are violent and you might get hurt.

But in a good note, youth are doing something in opposition to violence.
On February 14th 2010 3-6pm The Ryse Center will be hosting an event in memory of Kyle Braytton
a youth founder of Ryse victim to gun violence RIP

So what can we do to stop it? Is it enough to just be cool with my own friends and family? What should I do when I see people acting violently against someone else? It's not my problem and I dont want to get hurt. But I can't just stand there when someone's getting beat up. If I jump in, aren't I just continuing the violence?
