Here’s a great chance for you and members of RYSE to participate in a public meeting about youth safety.

The Board of the West Contra Costa Unified School District is hosting a joint meeting of the City Council members from El Cerrito, Richmond, San Pablo, Pinole and Hercules, as well as County Supervisor John Goia and local state representatives on Saturday, November 14 from 10:00 AM to noon in the multi-purpose room at Lovonya DeJean Middle, 3400 Macdonald Avenue in Richmond.  The purpose of the meeting is to explore ways to increase collaboration to improve youth safety at school, at home and in our communities.    The meeting will include brief reports from each of the jurisdictions on the challenges and strategies used to enhance youth safety.

The main focus of the meeting will provide an opportunity for interested community members to work in small groups to discuss ways to enhance collaboration across West County around five key areas:  violence prevention, gang intervention, community/neighborhood watch, facilities improvements for safety and character development.   Key findings from the small groups will be reported back to all those in attendance and for consideration at the statutory, local policy and for implementation with the cities, county and school district.

Thanks for letting RYSE members know about Saturday’s meeting.

Bruce
